The TrueLaborTM Device utilizes a proprietary signal processing technology combined with a unique EmbraceTM Sensor, allowing rapid application and the start of monitoring within seconds.
The TrueLaborTM is a transabdominal electromyography (EMG) monitor (uterine electrical muscle activity - the "Uterine ECG”). It is intended to measure in one noninvasive device: (i) fetal heart rate, (ii) fetal movements, (iii) frequency of uterine contraction of the mother, and (iv) strength of the uterine contraction of the mother. The TrueLaborTM acquires the signal from a single surface EMG electrode array that is placed on the mother's abdomen and present it on any standard fetal monitor.
Unlike the current TOCO or Doppler fetal heart rate devices, the TrueLaborTM sensor detects tiny electrical signals generated by uterine muscle contraction and the fetal heart rate. It therefore provides a signal that is unaffected by obesity, movement, coughing or any other disturbing element. The TrueLaborTM monitor is an external and wireless device that attaches to any existing fetal monitor and electronic health record (EMR). The TrueLaborTM device provides a clean, clear, accurate and complete uterine activity and fetal rate status, while the mother is free to move around. No skin prep is needed, no special training, and no additional measuring. The setup includes a simple, patient friendly placement of the EmbraceTM sensor on the maternal abdomen.
Moreover, the TrueLaborTM device provides the same waveforms as the traditional non-accurate devices like the TOCO or Doppler fetal heart rate devices, so the physicians cannot really see the difference on the standard monitor he/she is used to work with. This add-on modality eliminates the need for training the medical team and also saves capital equipment cost, since there is no need to replace the existing monitors.

TrueLaborTM Monitor Adapter Unit: Receives online digital signal of fetal heart rate and uterine activity and convert them into analog signals that are fed into any existing reference monitor (such as GE, Philips, Sunray and many other monitors). The accurate TrueLaborTM signals are displayed on the local monitor and stored in the hospital database.
